The Airship Sightings Over the United States Between the Years 1896-1898
and Its Connection to Verne's Novel Robur the Conqueror!

Hello Gang,
              One of the the greatest mysteries in the vast lore of the
mysterious and unexplained is the Airship sightings that occurred over
the United States between the years 1896-1898. Some investigators claim
that that these alleged sightings were fuelled by sensational newspaper
articles and "penny dreadful" tales connected with the possibility of
heavier than air flying machines. Some even connect these sightings to
the publication of Jules Verne's Novel "Robur the Conqueror" also known
by its other title "The Clipper Ship of the Clouds" in the early 1890's.

My question for this group is when, if ever, was this novel serialized
in the popular press of the period? Does anyone here have information
concerning the full publication of this novel in the United States?

I welcome any feed back and ideas concerning the mysterious events of
1896-1898. Was their a real life Robur experimenting with secret
airships? :-)
