Dear Friends,
As I have written to you few days ago, I have installed an upgraded version of
the mailing list daemon. No problems where noted, and the management is much
simpler. There is one side benefit that I notice now, having received our
friend Bernhard Krauth message about the Albatros Paper model. It is possible
to have messages archived in the JVF archive without actually distributing
them. Since, as we have seen in the past, our members are not so happy when
they receive large attachments, and we now have this new apparatus, I suggest
as follows: Whenever you have a message with attachments, separate it into two
messages, and say, "the attachments are in the next message (see archive)". The
"next message" will not be distributed, only archived. It is best to send the
"next message" as a reply to the original message, and in this way they'll
appear adjacent in the "thread view" of the archive, but it is enough also if
they have the same subject, and sent closely one after the other. Pick your
choice as convenient. This way you'll be able to send scans of various kinds
which will be archived at the JVF archive without the fear to put a burden on
the members' mailboxes, which are nowadays pretty full of Spam.
Best,
Zvi.
PS. All of you which intend to attend the NJAVS, I use this opportunity to wish
you a very good meeting. Because of health reasons, it will be impossible for
me to attend, and I hope I'll be fortunate enough to meet you all next year in
France.
Zvi.
