In fact, in France you can change your family name and there is a
standard procedure for that. You just have to apply and be patient ...
and pay. If your family name is something like "Cocu", "Ducon",
"Salaud"," Connard "... etc. that are offending words, it's relatively
easy. I presume that it is more expensive to change Verne into
Jules-Verne... This is a court of justice decision and it appears on
the "Journal Officiel".
