Dear friends,

Many of you will be looking forward to our trip to France in March. In the
first place to meet old and new friends, of course, but it will also be a
great opportunity to get some foreign books for our collections.

I, and my colleagues of the DUtch JV Society, will of course bring a
number of Dutch books that may be interesting to others. But as a favour
to my friends of the JV Forum, I would like to accomodate any special
wishes you may have. If I know in advance what you're interested in, I can
bring things I would not have brought otherwise.

So if there's something specific you would like me to bring, you can send
me a mail and tell me what titles, editions, etc. you'd be interested in.
I will then try to find it somewhere (either in a bookshop or through my
friends) before going to Amiens. Also, please tell me the maximum price
you're willing to pay.

Of course, I cannot give any guarantee that I'll succeed in finding what
you ask, especially for rarer titles or editions. I'll do my best, and
that's all I can do. If there are more people asking for the same item,
and I can't find enough of them, I'll handle the requests on a first come
first serve basis.

Something that would be nice for most people's collections is one of the
old "blue covers", the most famous Dutch edition. Originally published
from 1874 onwards, they were somehat restyled after 1945, and continued to
be published until the 1980s (only the most famous titles were left by
that time).

There are plenty of other editions, see for the best-known ones our
web page http://www.jules-verne.nl/gb/translations/editions.shtml

Besides Dutch translations of JV's works, there is a Dutch biography from
1942 (by E. Franquinet) and a shorter paperback version of that book, from
the 1960s. Then there are audio books, comics and the like. No JV stamps
have ever been issued in the Netherlands, but there do exist cigar cases,
cigar-bands etc. These items are relatively rare though.

All the best,
Garmt.
