Dear friends!

I know there is not much information published about
Gaston Verne (at least not in English). The story of
the attentat in 1886 seems to be told in different
versions. We have been talking about this subject
earlier. I note this two versions:

A) Jules Verne was at the gate of his home (returning
from his club), someone shout and two shoot followed.
The last one hit one of his leg. People helped Jules
and soon they recognize Gaston.

B) Gaston Verne was waiting outside his uncle's house
when Jules returned home from his club. Gaston want
some money (and at "A Chronology of Jules Verne" at
our web-page, written by mr Butcher, it is stated
Gaston want the money for a travel to England). Jules
said no, and Gaston raised his gun and... they start
fighting or Gaston just shoot a blind bullet into the
ground?

Which one of these stories should I prefer to believe
in now? Have there been any new information published
about this now when we are in the anniversy of 2005?

I may admit I am not one of the cleverest person at
this forum, and it was just yesterday night it strikes
me with an important question. That question made me
not to sleep last night; I was thinking: — How did
Gaston Verne got his gun in his hands?

We knew that Gaston had a mental illnes. In the books
I have been reading, it is not clear what the diagnose
was. Paranoia? Schizofrenia? Anyway, it was clear
before the march 9th that Gaston was ill, and he
couldn't travel alone from Blois to Paris without his
family (according to Peter Costello?). Under this
circumstance, how was it possible for Gaston Verne to
get a gun in his hands? Was it usual to walk around in
France with a gun in the pocket? Or is it proper to
read this as this (act) was planned properly by
Gaston?

I am happy to know if anyone have an answer to this,
or at least any guess. Any idea from you could perhaps
give me a better picture of the situation.

I also wonder if there are any information about his
brother Marcel Verne. He died in 1904. Is it correct
he didn't died a natural death? Is it correct that he
commit suicide, drowning himself in Schweiz?

Once again, I hope no-one take offend by my questions.
yet I am very pleased for any answers or suggestions
that can bring me to answers.
Thanks a lot!

Best regards
Peter Harold
