The German railway company (Die Bahn) have an excellent planner on their
site. If your German is good enough, have a look at
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/dn

On 24 March, there's a nice connection from Amiens to Nantes, avoiding
Paris:
D Amiens 12.10 (bus)
A TGV Haute Picardie 12.55
D TGV Haute Picardie 13.05 (TGV)
A Nantes 16.31

Other connections have you change trains in Paris, where you have to take
the subway from Paris Nord to Paris Montparnasse or Massy Palaiseau Ratp.

Those who join the 8-day programme needn't worry about transport, it seems
that the TGV trip is included. Others would need to reserve seats in the
TGV in advance. You could perhaps wait until you get to France, but
there's a chance that no seats are available in the train of your choice.

I hope this helps,
Garmt.
