Dear colleagues,

A bit off a primary Vernian path, perhaps, but I thought that some here might be interested in this English-language article in Spiegel Online, observing that increasing use of GPS (Global Positioning System) may mean the demise of the lighthouse:

Hmm... _Le Système de positionnement global du bout du monde_, for all its evident irony, doesn't have such a pleasant sound as the title of a novel.
