Dated 1909, it has been published in october 1908. Popp (1878-194?) was in contact with Lemire (1839-1912) and took from his book for the biographical facts.
I think Lemire can be considered as the first real biographer of Verne, but there are some little publications which are historically interesting for the facts known in Verne's lifetime. Here are the most important:

Jules Claretie: Jules Verne. Paris: Librairie illustrée 1875. Other version: Jules Verne. Célébrités contemporaines. Paris: A. Quantin 1883, 32 p. Both reprinted in the highly interesting book by Jean-Michel Margot: Jules Verne vu par ses contemporains. Amiens: encrage 2004

Georges Bastard: Célébrités contemporaines de la "Gazette illustrée". Jules Verne, auteur des "Voyages extraordinaires". Paris: E. Dentu 1883, 60 p.
