Dear experts in French language,
Is there any pun in the name of police officer Passauf in Une fantaisie du Docteur Ox? I've just bought one of the first Czech translations of this short story and found to my surprise that there is "van Tschihall" instead of "Passauf". "Tschihall" means Lurk, Prowl, Watch or Lookoutfor in Czech, but I am unable to find any such meaning in the word "Passauf".
