For those who don't read French but German (not very probable but possible), I indicate that the most important documents of the judicial examination from 1886 (in public domain since 1986!) have already been published in extenso in my biography "Jules Verne. Eine kritische Biographie" (Düsseldorf, Artemis & Winkler, publ. in february 2005), pp. 465-481 and discussed (because they need intensive reflection) pp. 329-341. Needless to say that the investigations of Mr. Pestureau and mine had been realized independently of each other. But the facts accumulated by Norbert Pestureau (which include Gaston's whole life, not only the events of 1886) are really marvelous. That's the work of a scholar of great circumspection and responsability.

The doctor's report of Gaston will not be destroyed but will be available on demand, with a special permission, in 2011. But don't hope too much; the informations scarcely exceed the informations of the police reports.

Kind regards,
Volker
