That makes sense, Raymond. Of course, there is another point - the Carolina
coast has a large landmass to its west, which also influences the climate.

It occurs to me that I perhaps should consider the climate of the northern
extreme of the North Island of New Zealand. Tjat's a comparable latitutde
and it is closeby.
