Ouch. You are a cruel man Garmt. Cruel cruel cruel. At least this leaves me free to be the discoverer of a wax cylinder recording made during his trip to Niagra Falls wherein he describes, in great detail, the horrors of traveling the seas on The Great Eastern!
Again, ouch.

Dear friends,

Thank you all for going along with this story. I was glad to see that so
many of you were enthusiastic about the find, even after Jacques
Crovisier's hint at the date of this Saturday. I admit that I felt an
occasional pang of guilt, when some of you went out of their way to dig up
information on wax cylinders, or got scared about the plans to play the
cylinders at home on an old machine, or offered to contribute in the costs
of the project. But I really enjoyed all your reactions.
I hope you are not too disappointed that this was just a hoax. Rest
assured that should something like this ever turn up for real, I'll do my
utmost best to make sure all Vernians will profit.
Cheers, and thanks for the good laugh,
Garmt.
