I myself have found from time to time that I share various specific
interests with various forum members. On such occasions I and the other
member(s), who share my more specific interests, have proceded to carry on
our discussions by sending emails to each other's personal addresses rather
than subjecting the whole list to something the majority may not be
interested in.

Hence, I see nothing wrong with listing "special areas of interest re
Verne". In fact, that might even be salutary because it would encourage
people with those special interests to get together -- which can hardly be
other than good for the common cause of Verne research!

Surely we can trust the judgment of forum members as to which topics are of
interest to the whole list and which are best addressed privately to this or
that member.
