What If ... Science Fiction and Fantasy Forum
of the Library of Congress Professional Association at LC
is pleased to announce that

Dr. Peter Schulman
Dept of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Old Dominion University
Norfolk, VA

will speak on

"Jules Verne's Invisible Man, and Other New Discoveries"

Thursday, November 30, 12:10pm

LM-139, Madison Building, Library of Congress

Highlights of Peter Schulman's remarks will include a discussion of his
ongoing translation and critical edition of the original version of
Verne's The Secret of Wilhelm Storitz, as well as his commentary and notes
in the recent new translation of The Begum's Millions published by
Wesleyan University Press (which will be available for signing after
Schulman's presentation). Peter is a trustee of the North American Jules
Verne Society, and hosted the Society's most recent gathering at Old
Dominion University. He is also a member of the Societe Jules Verne in
France and has written numerous articles on Verne.

Library staff as well as the general public are welcome to attend. As
cochair of What If ..., I will be hosting a luncheon for Peter after his
presentation, and audience members are welcome to join us. I hope that
local Vernians and others interested will be able to join us for this
special event.
