Verne and Nansen?

Greetings!

I am preparing an article on the life of Fridtjof Nansen. It is to be
published in celebration of the International Polar Year, March 2007-March
2009 (yes, that's two years for the price of one, apparently).

I have found a few vague references to a letter written by Verne to Nansen
and references regarding Verne's allusion to Nansen's achievements.

Does anyone know the source of these or any other references (which of
Verne's novels) suggesting a connection between Nansen and Verne? I would
like to include Nansen's influence on literature using an example from
Verne.

Thanks for any assistance.
