In no particular order:

Don Quixote by Cervantes
L'Ile mysterieuse by Verne
Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck
The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevski
Les Miserables by Hugo
Billy Budd by Melville
On the Beach by Shute
A Hazard of New Fortunes by Howells
Metamorphoses by Apuleius
Liasons dangereuses by Laclos

Waverley by Walter Scott got edged out, but barely.

Of course, if I'd been asked for the ten GREATEST novels, about half the
titles would be different. These are the ten I enjoy the most!
