Dear Friends,
Harry Hayfield who is resident in Ceredigion, Wales is a member of a
community theatre group called Memorama. They have only been in
existence since 2004 but in that time have produced 11 productions
ranging from classical adaptations such as "The Wind in the Willows" and
"A Christmas Carol" to farces such as "Ten Times Table" and most
recently the works of Dylan Thomas namely "Under Milk Wood" and "A
Child's Christmas in Wales", however as I am sure you will appreciate
putting on these productions means a lot of expense in copyright fees.
This is why Harry who is a member of the group is going to submit his
version of "Around the World in Eighty Days" (or as he has called it
"Around the World with Phielas Fogg") as a suggestion for the groups
Christmas production for 2008 as there is no copyright issue on the work
and if the creator of Rumpole of the Bailey can adapt "A Christmas
Carol" he sees no reason why he can't adapt "Around the World" either,
but realizing that he is only quite a recent fan of Jules Verne would
like those members more acquainted with his work to pass their critical
eye over his adaptation. He has asked me to host the document (which can
be found at
http://JV.Gilead.org.il/hayfield/Around%20the%20World%20with%20Phileas%20Fogg.doc)
and would like members to e-mail him (or the forum if they so prefer) to
offer their comments and suggestions.
Best,
Zvi.
