Knowing about my obsession with The Mysterious Island through the Forum,
Betty tracked me down and spoke with me over the phone several years ago. She
told me that Jules Verne had made the original drawing of the island and that
he had then colored in the various parts of the island (with colored pencils
or paints) as described by the colonists in Part I when they reach the top of
the mountain. This map she said was published full size and in Verne's
colors in a five page book but I wasn't able to locate a copy of the book.
