Verne probably made the draft of the map before writing the novel, giving
names to certain parts of the island. He probably frequently looked at the
map in the process writing, and even made a mistake. Take a look at Part I /
Chapter XXI:

>> ... Aprs avoir tourné la pointe de l'épave, les colons...

However, 'la pointe de l'épave' was not named until Part II/Chapter II -
settlers found a wreck there and thus named it...

Also, mentioning Number 8 on the list is a kind of a spoiler... If I can see
it correctly, Number 8 on the original French map reads "Crypte Dakkar". A
translator to Serbian was kind-of-compassionate and translated it to
Podzemna peæina, Underground cave.
