Following in the steps of Verne (with the permission of the local electorate that is)

BlankOn Thursday across the whole of Wales, the 2.2 million electors will be
voting for 1,262 county and city councillors and at least 10,000 community
councillors. I have decided to stand for those elections and was reminded
last night that if I am elected on Thursday, I will be able to follow in
Verne's footsteps as a member of the local council.

According to the FAQ section of this website it says the following about
Verne's activities on the council

In 1888 Jules Verne was elected into the City Council of Amiens. He
specialized in cultural affairs, such as theatres and schools and urbanism.
He inaugurated the Cirque Municipal in 1889. Verne was re-elected in 1892,
1896 and 1900.

Now, because I am writing this before the elections I have no idea if I will
get elected, but if I am one of the committees I would like to sit on is the
culture committee. As to being elected to four terms in office, well that's
down to the electors in my ward.

The polls will close on Thursday at 2200 BST (2300 CET / 1700 EDT / 1400
PDT) and I expect my ward to declare between 2300 and 0000 BST (0000 and
0100 CET / 1800 and 1900 EDT / 1500 and 1600 PDT). I will have my mobile
phone with me and will happily text the result to a member of the forum if
they will be able to post the result to anyone who is interested.
