Please pardon my reply in English. I can often figure out what is posted here
by recognizing some of the French words. To learn a bit more I sometimes use
the language tools of Google.com. This time when I posted the paragraph in
this question, it returned:

  I would like to know exactly where and when JV said that his three passions
  were freedom, music and Wednesday .. ? Is it one of his remarks, or that one
  of his nephews?

Wednesday?! I'm sure "la mer" referred to "the sea" but I can only be reminded
of the people who complain that they do not like Mondays and what might cause
someone to especially like Wednesday in the middle of the week.
