Thank goodness for that. Parliament broke up for the summer recess
yesterday after what has been a marathon Parliamentary session and I
need the rest! According to Hansard (which is the parliamentary record)
I have been bobbing up and down at the despatch box thirty times a week
(and whilst all that bobbing might be good for the old legs, it's
extremely tiring at the same time) so thank goodness I now have a
couple of months to recover my scattered wits.Passepartout, the
Princess and William have gone to Regent's Park to visit London Zoo and
it has given me a chance to wade through the mountains of letters I
have recieved (as a member of the government, a member of Parliament
and a private citizen) which reminds me, I've not looked at that letter
I got from the US embassy some time ago, let's see what they have to
say:Dear Sir Fogg MP, I am writing on behalf of President Garfield to
invite yourself and your wife to attend a meeting with the President on
April 10th 1884 at the US embassy in London, England where the
President will launch an endeavour that he thinks will peak your
professional and political interest. Signed this day July 10th 1883 on
behalf of President GarfieldSounds interesting I must say. I've not had
a chance to speak with President Garfield. I just hope that he's less
overbearing than President Grant.
