Blank(in order to explain what I shall be doing from September 1st onwards)

To the honourable Phileas Fogg Esq:

Sir, allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is John Smith, Professor
of History at the University of London and I would like to invite you to
take part in a project I am constructing entitled "Modern Life in Victorian
London" which will end up as a chronicle of several people's lives over the
next few years. I have chosen these people completely at random from a copy
of the Daily Chronicle from earlier this year. Your name was featured in a
report about the Reform Club and that is why I have chosen you for this
project. Please find enclosed a device (of my own invention) that will allow
you to "tweet" (as I like to call it) your everyday occurances from
September 1st 1872 to January 1st 1873 when I will come to your address and
collect it. You will also find enclosed instructions on how to use the
device. Yours sincerely, John Smith, Professor

To Professor John Smith, London University

Sir, I am humbled by your decision to choose me to contribute to your
project, but fear that your random choice may provide the least interesting
response. Although it is true that I am a regular attender at the Reform
Club and contribute to the daily running of the organisation, the rest of my
days are very quiet indeed. I feel sure that Lord Albermarle or even Mr.
Flanagan would have been a much better choice, but respect your decision to
choose me and will endeavour to help you with your project. I am, your
humble servant, Phileas Fogg Esq.

It's taken a little time to organise but I can announce that Phileas can now
"tweet" with the best of them. Starting on September 1st 2010, Phileas (or
rather myself on his behalf) will be mentioning all the little things that
happen to him (and London) between then and January 1st 2011 (including the
small matter of a trip around the world from October 2nd onwards) hopefully
in real time and allowing for time differences. If you want to follow
Phileas ~at~phileasfoggesq then by all means do so (the more the merrier I
say).
