Dear colleagues,

It was my privilege to attend last night's celebration of the life and career of our late colleague Walter James Miller, held at New York University, where Walter taught for five decades. The celebration -- speakers insisted that the event was a celebration, not a memorial service -- was attended by about 200 family members, colleagues, former students, and friends of Walter. Moving testimonials of his teaching, scholarship, poetry, and passion for social justice were given by family, friends, and colleagues. It was a marvelous gathering, evidence of a life well and truly lived.

Mobilis in mobile,

TH
