On this day, 150 years ago - Jules Verne left Norway after 16 days, headed for Denmark.
.
This weekend, on the 29th, a celebration took place in Rjukan, Telemark.
Many Jules Verne readers gathered to celebrate on the summit of the Gausta mountain, at the exact date, 150 years after Verne climbed it.
Images from the event can be seen on www julesverne.no/english:

'Following' Verne to Copenhagen, I join my fellow Scandinavian Vernians on Friday, August 5th, for a day in his 'footsteps'
- guided by Lejf Rasmussen and the other members of The Jules Verne Selskab [Society] in Denmark.
Like Jules, Axel and prof. Lidenbrock, we will (?) climb the tower of Vor Frelsers kirke, for a 'lesson of height-sickness'
(le mal de l’espace).....
