Yes, I've been watching it again to prep for an essay I'm working on. It's a fine, faithful adaptation in many respects, but most of all in its visual design. Heads and shoulders in that regard above, for example, the Endfield/Harryhausen and Bardem/Colpi (Omar Sharif) versions. And, apart from the fidelity of the adaptation, just a better movie than those films.
