For a little study of Jules Verne's use (and misuse) of English--and
Michel's too--I would recommend my article:
"Le Franglais vernien." *Modernités de Jules Verne *(Presses Universitaires
de France, 1988): 87-105.

Is your friend's book manuscript on Verne in English or French? If it is in
English, I would recommend Wesleyan University Press, the University of
Nebraska Press, or McFarland Press.
