Hello Matti,

Changing the name was the choice of the translator, for reasons best
known to himself. Other changes are Lidenbrock -> Von Hardwigg
(English), Passepartout -> Picaporte (Italian), Ursiclos -> Beerenkooi
(Dutch). Sometimes these changes can be explained as a means to
preserve meaning in the target text, but this is hardly the case for
Smith/Harding...
