First of all, welcome to the Forum! And congratulations on some fine
renderings, which capture Verne's spirit to a remarkable degree. The Doré
connection is also striking.

Rather than encumber the public airwaves, I will take this opportunity to

I have been a Jules Verne fan since the age of ten. Twenty three years ago I
started upon the biggest project of my life,trying to illustrate in the
victorian tradition of etching, pen and ink or woodcut every page of 20000
leagues.I was not sure I was up to the task and I still have my doubts his
work is masterful and has been slowly dissappearing from my library or
nearest waterstones for many years now. His book has been a passion of mine
now for nearly forty years. His text , full of science and aquatic marvels,
so precise and clear that many latin species or longitudes, places or names
are easy to find today. My own pictures are nothing compared to his work,
but when finished in just under three years time I hope to bring out the
dark brooding mystery that many people do not know about just because they
believe that 20000 leagues is no more than a story about a giant squid
attacking a ship.

some pictures have mistakes in them, I'm only human and pen and ink can be a
hard medium to work when tackling 300 other pictures whilst staying focused
on vernes text
