Dear Gary--

20,000 Leagues has enjoyed the richest modern iconography of any of Verne's
novels, with sets from major illustrators as varied as Milo Winter, W. J.
Aylward, Anton Otto Fisher, George Lawson, Kurt Wiese, Peter Henville,
Edward Wilson, Michel Bentegeat, Henry C. Pitz, Ron Miller, Joseph
Ciardiello, Didier Graffet, and untold others across Eurasia. Even so, I
think your work's brilliantly original and does indeed catch the
undercurrent of "mystery" that tugs the tale along. Please finish the task
... and then publish it to enrich one of the fine modern English
translations of this masterwork -- Bill Butcher and I have both published
complete texts, and there are responsible ones, too, from Anthony Bonner and
Mendor Brunetti.

Keep us posted on your progress with this exciting project.

All the best,

Rick
