Any idea what is the origin of Gallica's etext (i.e., the file mirrored in
http://jv.gilead.org.il/gallica/T0089829.html, p. 217)? It has 27 in both
places!.

It seems 27 is the *correct figure*, since already "Les trois documents" have
"7 Juni" in the German document (Part 1, Chapter II), and in "Les paris de
Jacques Paganel et du major Mac Nabbs" (Part 2, Chapter IV) , we read:

-- Eh bien, reprit Paganel, au lieu de lire « 7 juin » sur le document,
supposez que la mer ait rongé un chiffre de cette date, lisez « 17 juin »
ou « 27 juin, » et tout s'explique.

-- En effet, répondit Lady Helena, du 31 mai au 27 juin...

-- Le capitaine Grant a pu traverser le Pacifique et se trouver dans la mer des
Indes ! »

So, It seems, the LP edition is incorrect, and the Gallica's is correct.
